सुट्ट्या नुकत्याच सुरु झाल्या होत्या . बिलकुल करमत नाहीये ग आई , चल ना बाहेर फिरून येऊ कुठेतरी , मस्त ट्रीप झाली की की छान वाटेल बघ , पिंकी आईला सारखे म्हणत होती ,पण आई-बाबंना काही केल्या सुट्टी मिळत नव्हती ,त्यामुळे सहल रद्द झाल्यातच जमा होती . हे पाहून पिंकी फार उदास झाली होती ,तिचे मन काही केल्या अशा गोष्टी करण्यात रमत नव्हते . एक दिवस तिच्या महेशमामाचा फोन आला , तो म्हणत होता ,पुढच्या आठवड्यात तो औषधी गोळा करण्या साठी रानोमाळ फिरून येणार आहे त्यासाठी ,त्याच्या एका मित्राच्या लहानशा गावात रहाणार आहे.
